Is it worth the premium over the WhisperForce?
Only if you need the airflow. Both are Lasko DC towers rated 24 dBA, but the Pinnacle moves 32 ft/s against the WhisperForce's 25 and throws air 50 feet. In a large or hot bedroom that gap is the difference between cooling the room and cooling one corner of it. In a small room you are paying extra for headroom you will never use.
Is the Auto mode useful for sleeping?
It depends on how you sleep. Lasko lists an Auto mode among four modes but does not say what it senses or how it changes speed. If an auto mode changes fan speed, a change in noise level is exactly what wakes light sleepers — the steady drone is half the benefit. If you are noise-sensitive, set a fixed speed and leave it.
Pinnacle or WhisperForce?
Both are Lasko DC towers at 24 dBA. The Pinnacle moves considerably more air (32 ft/s versus 25) and adds an Auto mode and a night light; the WhisperForce is two inches taller. Take the Pinnacle for a bigger room, and the WhisperForce only if it is selling for less.
