We'd skip$99 for a desk-nap cocoon that gives zero upright neck support - the wrong tool for the plane seat most buyers have in mind.This is the product that made the brand, and it is genuinely unlike everything else in this category. You put your head inside it. The shell is viscose and elastomer over coated polystyrene microbeads, which the brand describes as lightweight, and there are openings for your hands so you can rest your head on a desk or a tray table without your arms going numb. It blocks light and muffles noise in a way no neck pillow attempts. The honest caveat is that it is a napping pillow, not a flight pillow: it gives your neck no upright support at all, so in a seat with your head back it does nothing the seat was not already doing.

Can you use the Ostrichpillow Original on a plane?
You can wear it, but it will not hold your head up, because it provides no neck support — it is designed for resting your head down on a surface. In an economy seat with your head back against the headrest it mainly blocks light. For an actual flight, a neck pillow like the Cabeau Evolution S3 or the Trtl does the job this one does not.
Is it hot inside?
Yes, over any length of time. You are enclosing your head in fabric, and your own breath has nowhere much to go. It is fine for a 20-minute power nap, which is what it was built for, and unpleasant for two hours. Plan around that rather than expecting to sleep the night in it.
Is $99 justified for a nap pillow?
Only if the desk-nap use case is real for you. It is a well-made object with no direct competitor, so there is no cheaper way to get this exact experience. But it solves one narrow problem, and if you were hoping it would double as your flight pillow it will disappoint you at four times the price of the Cabeau Classic.
